19 February 2015

We had dinner tonight from Panera. The girls had macaroni and cheese. As Madelyn was eating:

Madelyn: As I eat the cheese, the noodles are liney.
Me: Huh?
Madelyn, pointing to a noodle: See? Under the cheese the noodles are liney.

18 February 2015

The girls and I (and Tony, too, thanks to a dead car battery) were home this morning waiting for Grandma, Grandpa, and GG to get home from a doctor's appointment. They were playing with Alyson's wooden train set. Madelyn needs to learn that you can't reason with a toddler.

Madelyn: Alyson, can I play with that car?
Alyson: No!
Madelyn: But, you've been playing with it. I want a turn.
Alyson: No!
Madelyn, while looking at us in a desperate plea for help: But Aly....
Tony: Don't look at us. You two work it out.
Madelyn: Hmph....

17 February 2015

First

This morning while getting dressed, Madelyn was singing to Alyson:

"Santa Claus is coming to town-NextYear!"

Second

While playing with our neighbor this afternoon, the girls came out of the kitchen and went through the hall to turn into the living room. As they did this, Madelyn was narrating, and our neighbor was just going along with it:

"Oh no! There's a fire wall and we can't get through! We need to dump our powers on our heads (the stuff they were carrying in purses) to get our healths back because we ran out of health and then didn't have our powers anymore!"

16 February 2015

First

Madelyn got really excited while working on her LEGO Friends light house today. She brought me the instruction book to show me something.

Madelyn: Mommy, there's a new LEGO thing called Everest!
Me, after looking at the back of the instruction book she was showing me: You mean "Elves"?

Pretty advanced for a budding reader to get "Everest" from "Elves".

Second

Madelyn got up from the dining room table where she was working on her LEGOs and walked through the living room.

Me: Are you done with your LEGOs?
Madelyn, pointing to her nose: No. I'm going to get a tissue.
Alyson: Why?
Madelyn: Because my nose is leaking, Aly.

15 February 2015

While I was saying good night to Madelyn:

Me: We get another day home tomorrow. It's supposed to snow again tomorrow night, so I'm not sure if you'll have school on Tuesday or not. It depends on how much snow.
Madelyn, sadly: I really hope I get to go to school....

14 February 2015

Madelyn finished building her Lego emergency vehicles set today. In the 10 minutes or so that she actually played with it, things got a little intense:

"There is going to be a fire emergency on top of the ambulance soon! Oh my gosh! (she put the Lego fire on top of the ambulance) There it is now! The little boy is really afraid of the fire!"

The firetruck then went to put the fire out.
