This morning's breakfast conversation:

Alyson: Last night I had a good dream. A monster didn't eat me.
Madelyn: I had a good dream, too, about the whole house only having healthy food and no sugary food.
Me: So you want us to get rid of the sugary food?
Madelyn slowly shook her head no and looked at me as if thinking, "Don't you dare."

Tony and I were talking about a family member who has a slight concussion.

Madelyn: What's a concussion?
Me: It's when you hit your head and your brain hits the inside of your skull.
Madelyn: Oh! I know what a concussion is! Okay, maybe I don't really know what it is, but I know you can't go to school if you have one.

Me: Do you have anymore loose teeth?
Madelyn: Just this one, but it's only a little bit loose.
Me: So it'll probably be a while before you loose any more.
Madelyn: I'm glad. I'm tired of the holes. I want my teeth to come in.

Madelyn: What is lightning?
Me: It's a transfer of electricity through the air.
Madelyn, confused: Are there batteries in the sky?

Madelyn, excited: I don't have any homework today!
Me: You don't?
Madelyn with a bit of attitude: We haven't gotten our new homework calendar yet!

We went out for dinner tonight. When we sat down and started looking at our menus, Madelyn asked, "Are we to get some advertisements?" She meant appetizers.
