02 April 2014

Madelyn put yellow, red, blue, and green plates from her kitchen on the dining room table at Mom's while Mom and I were talking.

Madelyn: Okay, Grandma, take three of the plates, but leave the one that is bright like the sun.
Mom: So, you want me take them but leave the one?
Madelyn, as she turned around so she wouldn't see: Yeah.

Mom took the red, blue, and green plates, and I quickly took the yellow one just before Madelyn turned back around.

Madelyn: Grandma! I told you not to take all of them!
Mom: But I didn't.

Madelyn went around trying to find the plates. She found the three plates her grandma took quite easily and kept looking for the yellow one.

Madelyn, starting to get upset: But where is the yellow one? Yellow is my favorite color!

I pulled the plate out from where I was hiding it.

Mom: See, I didn't take it.
Me: But you never said I couldn't.
Madelyn, taking the plate and putting her head down on me: Hmph.
